FINAL BRACKETS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
– The Northern State University wrestling squad closed out their participation at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. with a 12th place finish, scoring 49.5 points.  The meet was hosted by the University of Indianapolis.

Jared Little, seeded #2 at 285-pounds, finished second in his weight class, losing his final match to the #1 seed Lynn Panko from the University of Indianapolis by a 3-2 decision.  Little earned a trip there after beginning the day in the quarterfinals, he earned a victory over Steven Butler of Newberry via forfeit.  That cashed his ticket to the title match where Panko earned the 3-2 victory over Little.

In the 197-pound bracket, redshirt freshman Matt Meuleners started his day with a matchup against Cody Wittcamp of the University of Indianapolis, and Meuleners earned a pinfall victory at the 2:40 mark.  He then faced #6 Shane Miller of Mesa State and earned a 4-2 decision to advance to the third-place match.  He earned a 5-3 decision to take third place over Dan Stevenson of Findlay, a wrestler that had beat him by a 3-2 decision in the championship round the day before.

Donnie Bowden, the #7 seeded wrestler at 165-pounds, started his day with a matchup against Jim Neal of Olimet, and Neal took the decision 6-5.  He then traveled to the seventh place match, and lost a sudden victory overtime decision 6-5 to Cole Johnson of Mesa State to finish in eighth place.

The Wolves are next in action on January 15th when they host Minnesota State University Moorhead in their first NSIC dual of the season.

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
