Athletes of the Week
Jordan King
Men's Basketball
Jordan King (G, 6-0, 180, Jr., Arlington, S.D./Arlington HS) led an NSU comeback effort against the University of Mary with a career-high 16 points on Saturday despite playing just 17 minutes of the game.  King drained four of eight 3-point attempts, including several late treys to keep the Wolves in contention.  He was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line while dishing out five assists and coming up with one of the team’s three steals.

Emily Becken
Women's Basketball
Emily  Becken notched her first double-double of the season with a 17-point, 11-assist effort in the Wolves' 76-65 win over the University of Mary.  Becken was one of four Wolves in double figures in scoring and one of three players to notch a double-double, marking the first time that has happened this season.  NSU has now won four straight games.

ABERDEEN, S.D. –
Three Northern State University track and field athletes exceeded either the NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying standards with their performances at Thursday’s intra-squad meet.  All three efforts, which will not be accepted by the NCAA as qualifying marks due to the intra-squad nature of the event, came in the field events.

Newcomer Trever Mau provided the night’s first highlight when he set a new Barnett Center and school record in the long jump with a leap of 7.43 meters (24 feet, 4 ½ inches).  Junior Andrew Rose followed with what would have been a provisional qualifying height of 2.05 meters (6-8.75) in the high jump.

Returning All-American and 2-time 2009 national runner-up Amanda Madden capped the evening with a toss of 18.01 meters (59-1.25) in the weight throw.  That effort was just nine centimeters off her previous best and current school record of 18.10 meters (59-4.75), set at last season’s national indoor meet.

The Wolves will kick off the 2010 season on Jan. 17 at the NDSU Bison Invite in Fargo, N.D. before returning home on Jan. 21 for a dual meet with the Jamestown College Jimmies.
