ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University head baseball coach
Mark Gulseth has announced his captains for the 2010 season. The two players chosen to lead the team are seniors
Payton McCleary and
James Paul. Both players have contributed to the program since their freshman year.
Payton McCleary, a speedy outfielder from Calgary, Alberta, has started 84 games over the past three seasons for the Wolves. He is also an active member of S.A.A.C. and a member of the NSIC Academic All-Conference team.
Coach Gulseth on McCleary:”Payton has been a leader for us on and off the field. He can play all three outfield positions, is extremely hard-working, and leads by example.”
James Paul is a sure-handed shortstop from Paynesville, Minnesota. He was also named a team captain as a junior; a season in which he committed only seven errors in 40 games.
Coach Gulseth on Paul:”Being a four-year starter in the infield, James will really give us some experience and stability. It’s almost like having a coach on the field.”
Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
