Jordan King
Men's Basketball
Jordan King (G, 6-0, 180, Jr., Arlington, S.D./Arlington HS) led an NSU comeback effort against the University of Mary with a career-high 16 points on Saturday despite playing just 17 minutes of the game.  King drained four of eight 3-point attempts, including several late treys to keep the Wolves in contention.  He was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line while dishing out five assists and coming up with one of the team’s three steals.


Emily Becken
Women's Basketball
Emily  Becken notched her first double-double of the season with a 17-point, 11-assist effort in the Wolves' 76-65 win over the University of Mary.  Becken was one of four Wolves in double figures in scoring and one of three players to notch a double-double, marking the first time that has happened this season.  NSU has now won four straight games.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference league office announced their 2009 All-Conference football selections Monday, and the Northern State Wolves had 12 players representing 14 positions on the North Division squads.

Junior running back Montrel Richardson (Tracy, Calif) was named to the first-team offense squad as a running back, and also earned second-team honors as a return specialist.  Junior kicker/punter Thomas Parrott (Tampa, Fla.) was tabbed as a first-team punter and a second-team kicker by the league’s coaches.

Junior offensive tackle Laman Toiaivao (West Valley City, Utah) and senior Shaun DelaCalzada (Honolulu, Hawai’i) were named to the second-team offense along with senior wide receiver Brian Jark (Aberdeen, S.D.).  Senior linebacker David Alvarez (Soquel, Calif.) earned a second-team nod at linebacker as well as junior defensive back Adam Carvajal (Bay Area, Calif.) and redshirt freshman cornerback Greg Hendersion (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Senior Ryan Olerud (Clear Lake, S.D.) and juniors Trent DesLauriers (Clark, S.D.), Mike Zerr (Aberdeen, S.D.), and Chris Hurd (Rapid City, S.D.) were all named to the honorable mention squad.

Minnesota Duluth’s Isaac Odim and Robbie Aurich were named the league’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.  Southwest Minnesota State’s Ryan Ratekin was named as the NSIC Offensive Newcomer of the Year and Junior Aumavae of Minnesota State was named Defensive Newcomer of the Year.  Minnesota State’s Todd Hoffner was tabbed as the league’s Coach of the Year.

Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
