SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Northern State athletes took the top spots in four races at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays this weekend. Northern had another four second place finishes.
Jake Hamik was the top performer for the Wolves, improving his NCAA provisional time in the 400 meter hurdles to 51.61 seconds. The tracksters head to Wayne, Neb. for the NSIC Championships this Friday and Saturday.
Hamik has improved his mark in the 400m hurdles in each of the past three weeks. He raced with NCAA DI athletes to a season best time of 52.15s, and improved his mark this past weekend, running a time of 51.61s. Hamik holds the NSU school record in the event, setting the mark last season at 50.92s.
Bill Cameron won the 110m hurdles with a season best time of 14.62s and took second in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 53.75s.
Matt Walberg topped the list in the 1,500m run with a winning time of 4:11.78. Northern's top first place finish came on the women's side, as
Amanda Madden took the discus throw with a toss of 138 ft 11 in.
Marisa Aldinger leaped for second place, soaring 16-10.00 in the long jump. Another second place finish came from
Jenny Baus in the 800m run as she finished in 2:21.22, just shy of her season best time.
Finally, the men's 4x400m relay team took second place at the Dakota Relays. They had a final time of 3:20.09.
