FARGO, N.D. - The Northern State women’s tennis team kicked off their second match Saturday night against the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs. The Wolves struggled to find points as they could not pick up one set win in the match. Duluth won the match 9-0.
In singles, Abbey Johnsen, Amanda Lee, and Nashay Bercier were the only three members of the team to score a point. Johnson lost in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 while Lee finished 6-0, 6-1 and Bercier finished 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles was just as much of a struggle for the Wolves as they lost in straight sets as well. Kelsey Lonning and Jessica DesLauriers lost the number one doubles by a final of 8-1. Johnson and Bridget Henderson lost the number two doubles 8-3, and Lee and Bercier lost the number three doubles matchup 8-0.
The Wolves continue their opening weekend with a trip to Grand Forks, N.D. to take on conference opponent Minnesota, Crookston.
