MARSHALL, Minn. - The Northern State wrestling team annihilated Southwest Minnesota State 46-0 in an NSIC dual on Wednesday evening.  The Wolves improve to 8-6 on the year and 2-1 in NSIC action, while SMSU drops to 0-9, 0-3 NSIC.  The Wolves are in Sioux Falls this Saturday to take on Augustana College at 7:00 p.m.

The Wolves jumped to a quick 16-0 lead in the dual with the Mustangs following a major decision, a fall and an SMSU forfeit in the first three weight classes of the evening.  Rick Schiley (6-13) went up 17-6 over Ed Reno at 133 pounds to start the night.  Brother David Schiley (19-7) followed with a pin at the 4:21 mark at 141-lbs.  Dustin Bonn (12-12) got back into the win column with a 10-3 decision over Logan McAlpin, putting NSU up 19-0.

Phillip Downs had an interesting bout in the 165 weight class.  He led 7-1 going into the third period, but SMSU's CD Johnson scored an escape, a takedown and a three-point nearfall to tie things up.  Downs improved his record to 8-3 on the year with a late escape for the 8-7 win.

Other wins for the Wolves included a 7-6 decision for Donnie Bowden (174-lb.), a 10-5 win for Cale Cornemann (184-lb.) and a pin for Todd Naasz (197-lb.) after two minutes of wrestling.  The Mustangs left the final two weight classes open.
