Ashley Gabler
Softball
Ashley Gabler (OF, So., Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margarets HS) led the Wolves with a .357 batting average in six conference games this week. After struggling in two home games on Wednesday, Gabler bounced back to go 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate for the Wolves in their four-game road trip and racked up a .600 on base percentage. The sophomore drilled her second home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against 24th ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, breaking up the Mavericks’ shut-out bid in the process.

James Paul
Baseball
James Paul (Sr., SS, R/R, 5-8, 165, Paynesville, Minn. / Paynesville HS) led the Wolves batters with a .542 average in their 1-5 week this week. He went 13-24 with five RBI, two doubles, and four runs scored with a .625 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage (1.202 OPS). The senior also earned two walks and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The awards continue to pile up for the Northern State University track and field program, as the women’s team was honored Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an NCAA Division II All-Academic Team. The Wolves were one of 67 Division II programs across the nation to receive the honor, which goes to teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Northern State University graduate Amanda Madden added one final award to her pile of collegiate accolades on Thursday when she was named as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Outdoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. Madden was one of three NSU athletes honored by the organization, as it released its 2010 women's honorees Thursday afternoon.

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Two Northern State University student-athletes have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District VII Teams, which were announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Wednesday morning. Senior Amanda Madden earned First Team honors, while fellow senior John Rawerts was tabbed to the Second Team on the men's side.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After getting rained out on Friday, Northern State University sophomore Melodi Boke and senior Bill Cameron closed out the Wolves' run through the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Track and Field Championships on Saturday, both giving solid performances in their respective events. Boke claimed a top-10 finish in the shot put after more than a 12-hour rain delay, while Cameron finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles to claim his first career All-America certificate and the third of the meet for the Wolves.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - One national championship just wasn't enough for Northern State University senior Amanda Madden. So she went out and did something about it. For the second time in three months, Madden captured individual champion honors at the NCAA Division II National Track and Field Championships, this time winning the hammer throw on Thursday.

EMPORIA, Kan. – The Northern State University track and field program added three qualifying improvements to the 2010 outdoor season list of accomplishments on Saturday at the Emporia State University Twilight Qualifier. The meet served as the Wolves’ final meet – and final chance at registering qualifying marks – ahead of the NCAA national championships to be held May 27-29.

HAYS, Kan. – Competing in one of two “last chance” meets this week, the Northern State University track and field squads pulled through with several strong marks at the Fort Hays State University Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday. The Wolves finished with one new NCAA provisional qualifying mark from freshman Yvonne Freese and a lifetime PR from junior Jon Evenson.
