James Paul
Baseball
James Paul (Sr., SS, R/R, 5-8, 165, Paynesville, Minn. / Paynesville HS) led the Wolves batters with a .542 average in their 1-5 week this week. He went 13-24 with five RBI, two doubles, and four runs scored with a .625 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage (1.202 OPS). The senior also earned two walks and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts.

Ashley Gabler
Softball
Ashley Gabler (OF, So., Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margarets HS) led the Wolves with a .357 batting average in six conference games this week. After struggling in two home games on Wednesday, Gabler bounced back to go 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate for the Wolves in their four-game road trip and racked up a .600 on base percentage. The sophomore drilled her second home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against 24th ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, breaking up the Mavericks’ shut-out bid in the process.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Wolves Club will host a fall membership drive kick-off on Monday, Aug. 30 with a fall sports ice cream social. Wolves Club members are invited to the Barnett Center at 6:30 p.m. for a meet & greet with the fall sports student-athletes and coaches.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer coaches picked the Northern State University Wolves to finish eighth in the 2010 edition of the NSIC Preseason Poll. The Wolves, who have not missed an NSIC tournament berth since the program's inception, finished seventh in the 2009 standings and picked up 88 points in the 2010 poll.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - For the tenth straight year, the Northern State University soccer squad as been named as a recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Team Academic Award. The Wolves were one of 339 women's programs to earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. NSU tabulated a team GPA of 3.51 and was one of just 32 teams to post a GPA of 3.50 or better.

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University soccer coach Steve Kehm has announced the signing of six individuals to National Letters of Intent to enroll in classes and join the NSU soccer squad next fall. The class includes Samantha Adams (Calgary, Alberta/Dr. E.P. Scarlett HS), Tia Lopez (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo HS), Mallory Van Hout (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County HS), Khachirha Tugas (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman HS), Hilary Peterson (Aberdeen, S.D./Aberdeen Central HS) and Anna Woerle (Coon Rapids, Minn./Dakota County Tech/Meadow Creek Christian HS).

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – For the second straight year, Northern State University junior Maggie Fedor has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as an All-Central Region performer for her on-field efforts. Fedor, who was also honored by the NSCAA in 2008, was tabbed to the Third Team All-Central Region squad. The all-region teams were recently announced by NSCAA officials.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Four Northern State University soccer players were tabbed to various All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams, which were released by league officials on Wednesday. Sophomore Kaylee McDonald (First Team), junior Maggie Fedor (Second Team), and seniors Laura Skog (Third Team) and Summer Swan (Honorable Mention) all earned accolades. All-Conference honorees are nominated and voted on by the head coaches of the 14 teams in the NSIC.
