James Paul
Baseball
James Paul (Sr., SS, R/R, 5-8, 165, Paynesville, Minn. / Paynesville HS) led the Wolves batters with a .542 average in their 1-5 week this week. He went 13-24 with five RBI, two doubles, and four runs scored with a .625 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage (1.202 OPS). The senior also earned two walks and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts.

Ashley Gabler
Softball
Ashley Gabler (OF, So., Minnetonka, Minn./Benilde-St. Margarets HS) led the Wolves with a .357 batting average in six conference games this week. After struggling in two home games on Wednesday, Gabler bounced back to go 5-for-9 (.556) at the plate for the Wolves in their four-game road trip and racked up a .600 on base percentage. The sophomore drilled her second home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against 24th ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, breaking up the Mavericks’ shut-out bid in the process.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University athletic director Bob Olson has announced that Kristi Villar has accepted the Wolves’ head softball coaching position. A former standout shortstop at Augustana College, Villar comes to the Wolves after two seasons on staff at Southwest Minnesota State University. The NSU position marks her first head coaching experience.

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State University Athletic Director Bob Olson has accepted the resignation of NSU softball coach Terri Holmes, who left the post to assume full-time duties as the school's compliance officer and Senior Woman's Administrator.

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Northern State University Wolves ended their 2010 campaign on a high note on Sunday, using an offensive explosion to power their way past Minnesota State University, Moorhead for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victories. The Wolves claimed a 10-7 win in the opener and bounced back for a 6-4 victory in the nightcap, marking their third win in the final four games of the season.

The two teams were scheduled to play a pair of games beginning at 2 p.m. However, Jamestown must make up a conference doubleheader on Wednesday and cannot complete the non-conference series with the Wolves

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Northern State University pitchers Kelley Suggs and Kelli Bornander held the St. Cloud State University Huskies scoreless for 11 of 13 innings on Monday as the Wolves battled their way to a Northern Sun split on the day, giving up one big inning in the opener of a 3-0 loss and taking advantage of a pair of SCSU errors in Game 2 to salvage a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Concordia University-St. Paul Golden Bears took advantage of three Northern State University errors and a Tiffani Rodd home run in the first inning of Game 1 to put up five opening runs on the board, then reverted to small ball tactics in the nightcap to complete a two-game sweep of the Wolves by final scores of 10-0 (five innings) and 3-0 in Sunday’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader.

BISMARCK, N.D. – University of Mary junior Sami Antolin knocked a pair of two-run doubles – one in each game – while sophomore Desi Smith cracked a three-run home run that just cleared the foul pole down the line and had four RBI in Game 1 to lead the Marauders to a pair of wins over the visiting Northern State University Wolves Wednesday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference softball action.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Wayne State College Wildcats used a 16-strikeout performance from ace hurler Katie Goetzinger and an eight-hit, 10-run team performance in the nightcap to claim a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader sweep over the host Northern State University Wolves Sunday afternoon at Moccasin Creek Park. WSC claimed a 4-1 victory in the opener and finished off the day with a 10-0 win in six innings.
